PTF BPI 2018 is over!

All those who contributed to the conference: Thank you for all your excellent work!

At the end of the PTF BPI 2018 conference we would like to address to all those who contributed to its success: Thank you for all your efforts and excellent work!

When all is said and done, allow us to conclude that the PTF BPI 2018 was a great success! 131 authors contributed to turn this event into a high-level meeting with state of the art keynotes, technical papers and presentations. It was a good opportunity for great scientific inputs, networking and a forum for scientific and also friendly discussions.
The results of this work are concentrated in the digital proceedings of the conference of 292 pages, that contain 40 peer-reviewed contributions of authors from 15 different countries, compiled under the supervision of Univ.-Prof. FH-Prof. Dr.-Eng.habil. Dr. Marius C. Barbu, Prof DI(FH) Dr.habil. Alexander Petutschnigg BSc. MSc. and Dipl.Eng. MSc. Dr. Eugenia Tudor.
For the 5th edition, PTF BPI introduced current themes regarding cascading use of wood integrated in circular economy, implementation of Industry 4.0, data acquisition and lean management, nanotechnology and 3D printing in special keynote sessions held by experts from academia, who presented the latest research and know-how to participants.

Following topics were covered in 8 sessions and one meeting with the experts of the FORESDA Interreg Programme:

- Value chain in bio-economy and biomass utilization
- Product development and new adhesives for the wood industry
- Wood modification processes
- Wood-based composites and emissions of wood products

The high quality of the papers represents the knowledge and experience of scientists and experts from universities, research institutes and companies from the field of forest products, wood-based composites, wood chemistry and renewable energies from wood.

We would like to thank all the organizing team, the staff and students of Forest Products Technology and Wood Constructions Department of the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences. Also, our special thanks go to the Technical University of Munich, School of Life Sciences in Weihenstephan for hosting and Forest Products Society and International Union for Forest Research Organization for supporting this event.
The best papers will be published in ProLigno journal.
